Once upon a time, people scanned the internet, scanned the ports of each host and kept a record of interesting responses, and I mean everything from that 3-year-old router you're using to anything that has a public reachable IP address. Now an AI can do it - in unbelievable time and scale, collate the results and move on to breaching, extraction and establishing a persistent foothold.

Sort of makes you want to go off grid huh. Try it in the modern world. Impossible.

Do yourself a favor and get a decent ingress/egress IDS/IPS router. You will learn heaps. Yes, they can come with inbuilt Wi-Fi. You can bridge your old ISP router if you can't get rid of it because you don't have an NTD.

You might find that smart jug, lightbulb or Fridge is talking to people you never even knew about, or worse it is taking instructions from something/someone else.
