Asian Shift Cybersecurity Requirements to Suppliers
Businesses in Asia are paying more attention to the suppliers' cybersecurity, as third parties' poor cybersecurity hygiene leads to an increasing number of breaches.
Earlier this month, Japanese chipmaker Kioxia Holdings reportedly notified its 3,000 suppliers that it would begin automated scans of their cybersecurity postures, with those at the bottom of the pack facing a mandate to improve or have their business dropped. In June, Singapore's financial and cybersecurity agencies publicly proposed that vendors pass a national cybersecurity certification before being allowed to provide services to the government.
