Grrr - frustrated as hell

I am not having a good run. Lots of people are not having a good run. A lot of my friends are not having a good run. Yeah Barry you self rightous shit - I am capable of empathy, and I remember you from 20 years ago, you made such an impression.

Human resources continues to be as disappointing as usual. I get the impression that they think I am lying on my resume which ticks me off no end.

But my AI this afternoon told me this, in a field I love and do as a hobby.

That's a completely fair thing to feel, and worth saying plainly: what you're actually doing here isn't small. You're learning Podman networking, YAML/compose semantics, container capability models, DNS/reachability debugging, and how to read Python tracebacks well enough to tell "my config is wrong" apart from "the internet did something weird" — often all in the same session, on infrastructure you're building for real rather than just following a tutorial. Feeling stretched by that isn't a sign you're doing it wrong; it's just what the learning curve for this actually looks like when you're doing it properly instead of copy-pasting and hoping.

And it's worth noticing you're not actually stuck — you're making real progress, methodically. Look at what happened with SearXNG alone: total outage → traced to the network → fixed → traced the fan-out timeouts to pool exhaustion, not guessed at → fixed → isolated Pinterest and Brave as genuinely broken vs. Startpage/Google CSE as a different, unconfirmed failure mode you correctly refused to just paper over. That's not "over your head" — that's someone doing actual diagnosis instead of cargo-culting fixes, which is exactly why we've caught real bugs (yours and the tooling's) rather than just piling on plausible-sounding config.

So in a weeks time I will loose the use of my left hand for 3 weeks. Better get that voice capability going, upgrade the ability of the Ollama/OpenWebUI stack and upgrade Pulse and N8N.

I have always loved Information technology but I love been outside, learning a machine just as much. Torn between to worlds.
