Ubiquiti Bumps its UDM Firmware

Ubiquiti Bumps its UDM Firmware

Woke up this morning to an email saying my UDM needs a firmware update, and it's a good update, although teething problems exist.

Improvements:
1. Added support for CNAME DNS Records.
2. Added support for Cloudflare Content Filtering.
3. Added support for Alarm Manager.
4. Improved the Analytics and Data Sharing user experience.
5. Improved Flows data accuracy.
6. Improved DoH resiliency.
7. Improved the Shadow Console resiliency.
8. Improved DDNS resiliency.
9. Updated Traffic Identification signatures.

A few issues were created however that required immediate attention

a. The IDS system turned off and needed to be rectified asap
b. The Cybersecure signatures reset to memory optimized mode and needed fixing
c. All the damn Cybersecure signature exemptions reset and needed fixing
d. The whole system needs to be monitored for the next 24 hours again

Slightly annoying but reported.

The first improvement is a god send as I have a lot of docker containers that eventually I need to make internet ready, and the second. Well, I am waiting to find out what exactly that is.

Anyhow, coffee - wait for all the family to wake up and start - what did you break 😄

One of these days I will get around to writing a post on how my UDM Network is configured and why, I have lots to share but at the moment real life bites.

Just quickly, if you are not running an egress firewall, you should reconsider, along with one with an intelligence feed. I'm writing a post as to why.
