VPNs - not all are created equal

Told you. Want a VPN then your own or replace your router. If you're not technically savvy this is the best option - get one with a VPN server and a client

That way you can connect to it, and if required bounce back out via say America or Switzerland if required.

"It's catastrophic for those users' privacy and security," said Benjamin Mixon-Baca, one of the authors of the study. "Without even considering the user's country, the weaknesses we identified indicate the VPNs don't provide any form of privacy or security which contradicts the claims made by these providers on their websites," he added.

Remember though a VPN just reroutes traffic effectively changing your IP address and uses a tunnel or pipe to shield your traffic on the network you are currently connected to. It doesn't vet meta data leaving your device - for that you need a firewall or content filtering system.

This is the amount of traffic blocked on the device I am using whilst writing this post. Most of it is privacy related meta data. Get the idea.
